Antwerp Open 2021: Jannik Sinner vs. Diego Schwartzman Tennis Pick and Prediction

TennisSection previews the 2021 Antwerp Open as Jannik Sinner meets Diego Schwartzman in the Final on Sunday, October 24th, 2021.

Will Diego Schwartzman show us the tennis we all know he can play even though he’s had a bit of a rough year after his highs in 2020? Will Jannik Sinner get his 4th title of the year as he continues to shine as a youngster and make his way to the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin? Both players have the stuff to get the title under their belt here at the 2021 Antwerp Open, but only one will come out as the Champion. Who will it be?

Diego Schwartzman put on a great performance against the up and coming Jenson Brooksby, beating the young American in straight sets 6-4/6-0. Diego had to ensure that his return game was at its best as Brooksby is a huge hitter, and the scoreline definitely showed that Diego is up for the challenge. Diego has had a tough year in 2021, only winning 1 title along the way and this is his second Final of the year. Diego is famous for making comebacks late in the season and getting himself up the rankings, but can he get his second title of the year here at the 2021 Antwerp Open as he meets one of the most in form players this year in Jannik Sinner?

Jannik Sinner made easy work of the tough South African, Lloyd Harris, beating him in straight sets 6-2/6-2. Jannik Sinner is very determined to make his way to the Nitto ATP Finals this year as it will show that he has made incredible strides in his game after winning the 2019 Next Gen Finals, but also because it is in Italy in Turin. Jannik has a great serve, and for a player of his height, he is also a great mover. Sinner will want to ensure his serve is at its best so he can win cheap points against the great returner in Diego Schwartzman.

Jannik Sinner and Diego Schwartzman have never met before, with this being their first meeting on the ATP Tour. If this was last year I would have thought Diego would get the job done here, but with this being only his second final of the year, as well as it not being his favourite surface, I see things going the way of the Italian. Jannik has won 3 titles already this year, and he is determined to get his fourth to continue rising up the rankings. Things will be tight as they are great returners, but Jannik’s serve will give him an edge as he wins his 4th title of the year here at the 2021 Antwerp Open.
