Kremlin Cup 2021: Andrey Rublev vs. Adrian Mannarino Tennis Pick and Prediction

TennisSection previews the 2021 Kremlin Cup as Andrey Rublev takes on Adrian Mannarino in the Round of 16 on Thursday, October 21st, 2021.

Will Andrey Rublev move on? Will Adrian Mannarino pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have the favorite for the title coming up against an interesting first test. Who will move on to the quarterfinals at the 2021 Kremlin Cup?

Andrey Rublev is definitely the clear favorite to win the title, being the number one seed and most consistent player of the year who’s in the draw. Having said that, Rublev was nowhere near as consistent as he was expected to be this year, with early losses in Roland Garros and the US Open, and just now Indian Wells, it’s a little bit concerning. However, his game has so much potential, so he should be able to get himself together and grab the title here in Russia. Having said that, despite any inconsistent results as of late, he is the clear favorite to take out Mannarino here. He just needs to focus on playing his game, and Mannarino will have little to no chance against him as the two fight for a spot in the quarterfinals at the 2021 Kremlin Cup.

Adrian Mannarino doesn’t have much of a chance coming up against Andrey Rublev. His year hasn’t been too promising either, and with the playstyle that he does have, he has little chance to take on the powerhouse that is Rublev. In order to win, he will have to do one of two things, either use his game to absorb all the pace and just constantly put every single ball in, which is very hard. Or he could change his game to be more aggressive, but the fact is, he really just doesn’t play like that. He will definitely need to just lock down and focus on putting every ball in, no matter how hard it is as he fights for a spot in the quarterfinals at the 2021 Kremlin Cup.

Andrey Rublev and Adrian Mannarino have met once before, with Andrey Rublev leading the head to head 1-0. Their one meeting came at the same event just last year, with Rublev crushing him in straight sets with a bagel. Practically every single condition you could think of at the moment favors the Russian, with him having all the success, ranking, form, the conditions in terms of court speed, crowd support, the list goes on. For Rublev to not win this match, would be a huge upset. Let’s see if Rublev can show he has the level to go all the way here at the 2021 Kremlin Cup.
