Alex Bolt cruised through his Second Round match against Emilio Gomez, beating the Colombian in straight sets 6-3/6-1. Alex Bolt was extremely dominant on his serve so he was not worried about holding it. This freed Alex up to play as aggressive as he wanted to on his return game, and eventually gave him the momentum to dominate the entire match. Alex Bolt is unknown really but he has a great game when he’s confident. Will Alex Bolt be able to use the same strategy as he did against Gomez against John Isner who is a much bigger server?
John Isner came through a tight 3-set match against Evgeny Donskoy, beating the Russian 7-5/3-6/7-6. As usual, the longer the set goes, the more likely Isner is to win it. John Isner had to fight off some rust throughout that match with his lack of play recently and he was able to put up his best game in the final set. John will know that if he is at his best here at the 2021 Los Cabos Open, he can definitely get the title under his belt. But he will be wary of Alex Bolt who will have nothing to lose coming into this Quarter-Final match.
John Isner and Alex Bolt have never met before, with this being their first meeting on the ATP Tour. Alex Bolt will come into this match knowing he has nothing to lose, so I expect him to give it his all. However, he will not be able to return as easily as he did against Gomez. John Isner is still one of the best servers in the game and he will make sure he gets to tiebreaks to win this match. It will be tight, with potentially 2 or 3 tiebreak sets, but John Isner will get the match under his belt to make his way to the Semi-Finals of the 2021 Los Cabos Open.
