A very exciting and drama filled match is expected here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships as tenth seeded Denis Shapovalov will face Karen Khachanov for a spot in the Semi-Finals. Both men are very aggressive and flashy player, and this is sure to be a thrilling match for the Wimbledon crowd. Who will get the win and advance to their first ever Grand Slam Semi-Final?
Denis Shapovalov is currently ranked #12 on the ATP Tour and is the 10th seed here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The Canadian star has really matured as a player over the past few seasons and is really starting to realize the potential that he has flashed throughout his short career. After struggling in the First Round against veteran Philipp Kohlschreiber, he has really come into his own, notably dominating Roberto Bautista Agut in straight sets to reach his first ever Wimbledon Quarter-Final. He has a big serve and dominant groundstrokes, but so does hie opponent Karen Khachanov. While Shapovalov should be considered the favorite here, Khachanov has a lot more experience and will be very dangerous here.
Karen Khachanov is ranked #29 on the ATP Tour, but is a former top 10 player. The Russian really has seen his ranking slide in recent times due to his inconsistent play, and he will be delighted to have reached the Quarter-Finals here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. An ultra-aggressive player, he has one gear only and is very hard to beat when he is confident and striking the ball well. He had a very impressive win over Sebastian Korda in the Round of 16, a match that had a shocking 13 breaks of serve in the final set, and he came back from 3-1 down in the 5th to win 10-8. Khachanov in this sort of form is certainly good enough to get the win here over his favored opponent Denis Shapovalov, but we must wonder if fatigue will take its toll after such a battle with Korda.
This will be the second meeting between the two players, with Shapovalov leading the head to head 1-0. They played each other in Davis Cup in 2019, with the Canadian winning a tough three setter. This match can really go either way here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, with both men playing outstanding tennis. One thing is for sure, this will be an extremely attacking match, with lots of winners and unforced errors on both sides. This is not one that fans will want to miss, and we are backing the young Canadian here to get the win. Denis Shapovalov is no longer the talented hothead that he once was, and he is playing some very measured, attacking tennis. Karen Khachanov is hard to stop when he gets going, but Shapovalov looks locked in and his variation will be the deciding factor here. Both men will certainly win a set, but Shapovalov will win, advancing to his first Grand Slam Semi-Final here at Wimbledon.
