Botic meets Matteo Berrettini who will not give him anything easily, therefore he needs to be at his absolute best and more if he is not to pack his bags and go onto the next challenger tournament.
Matteo Berrettini beat the Argentine, Guido Pella, in 4 sets in the Round of 128 6-4/4-6/6-4/6-0. Matteo Berrettini hit 19 aces during that match and he was very strong on his second serve points, winning 68% of them. Matteo only let his guard down once, giving Pella 1 break point which he converted to steal the second set. After that, Matteo did not let his guard down ever again and he dominated the rest of the match. Matteo will be very happy with his performance on grass this season and he knows he has a strong chance in this side of the draw of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships if he continues to improve.
Matteo Berrettini and Botic Van de Zandschulp have never met before, with this being their first meeting. Botic will be very happy that he’s gotten this far to be honest and I don’t see him getting anything going in this match. His win was more of a win between two Challenger Tour players so it holds no weight compared to Matteo’s first round performance. I don’t expect for this match to be long, with Matteo Berrettini getting this win in straight sets as he makes his way to the Round of 32 of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
