TennisSection previews the 2021 Wimbledon Championships as Jannik Sinner (19) meets Marton Fucsovics in the Round of 128 on Monday, June 28th 2021.
Will Marton Fucsovics come out here with the strong form we have seen from him for a good chunk of the year and cause the upset? Will Jannik Sinners training behind the scenes with the likes of Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic be enough to help him make a good run here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships? Both players can win this match if they are at their best, but only one will make their way to the Round of 64. Who will it be?
Marton Fucsovics has not had a great start to the grass court season, going 1-2 in his 3 matches on the surface and not finding the rhythm which we have seen him play with on hard courts and clay courts this year. Marton Fucsovics is always a tough player to come up against, because he has so much power and speed behind his shots. However, Marton has been handed a tough draw here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships right from the start as he meets the up and coming Jannik Sinner who wants to have another good Grand Slam first week.
Jannik Sinner did not start the grass court season well either, losing to Jack Draper right from the start at the Queen’s Open. Jannik Sinner is much better than the tennis he showed in that match, and he has been training with some big name players behind the scenes to ensure his game is up to speed. Jannik is the future of the game in my opinion and as long as he continuously makes improvements every month, he will be hard to beat soon enough for the big players as well. Jannik, however, meets a tough opponent in Marton Fucsovics right from the start now. Can he make his way to the Round of 64 of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships?
Jannik Sinner and Marton Fucsovics have met 2 times before, with the head to head tied at 1-1. They met both times in 2020 on hard courts and their matches were very entertaining. I expect for this to be a tight match as they are both flat hitting and powerful players. Marton Fucsovics is more experienced, but Jannik has had the better year in terms of statistics. Jannik has won 66% of matches this year, whilst Marton has won just under 60% of his. Both of them will come out here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships ready to give it their all, but I see Jannik coming through this tight one in the end.
