Wimbledon Championships 2021: Aslan Karatsev vs. Jeremy Chardy Tennis Pick and Prediction

TennisSection previews the 2021 Wimbledon Championships as Aslan Karatsev (20) meets Jeremy Chardy in the Round of 128 on Wednesday, June 30th 2021.

Will Jeremy Chardy use all of his experience to teach Aslan Karatsev a lesson and cause the upset? Will Aslan Karatsev come out here ready to put on another solid run at a Grand Slam in the hopes of showing us the form he has played for the majority of 2021? Both players can win this match if they are on top of their game, but only one will make their way to the Round of 64 of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. Who will it be?

Jeremy Chardy started off poorly on grass this year, going 0-2 in his matches at Stuttgart and Queen’s. Jeremy Chardy is a very experienced opponent, and he still has a very good game when he is at his best. However, since early in 2021, we have not seen his best level come out much. Jeremy Chardy prefers hard courts compared to grass and clay, but that does not mean he cannot ruffle some feathers. Jeremy will have to be at his best right from the start here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships as he meets Aslan Karatsev in the Round of 128.

Aslan Karatsev went 1-1 on grass at the Queen’s Open this year, and he has been putting in the hard work behind closed doors to ensure his game is up to speed for his first ever Wimbledon. Aslan Karatsev is continuously making a bigger name for himself because every tournament is really a first time for him. Aslan Karatsev knows he needs to find his rhythm on this surface as he has never had much experience on it, but he will be confident in himself because of his amazing level he has shown this year. He now meets the experienced Jeremy Chardy right from the start, so if he wants to win, he needs to bring out his best at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.

Aslan Karatsev and Jeremy Chardy have met 1 time before, with Jeremy Chardy leading the head to head 1-0. They met in qualifying of the Shanghai Masters in 2019 where Chardy won 6-4/6-0. Although Chardy won that match easily, times have changed and Aslan Karatsev is a much better player right now. Aslan has gone 23-10 this year on the ATP Tour whilst Chardy has gone 15-15. It will be a tight opening round match at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, but I see the younger and in form Aslan Karatsev to come out on top and make his way to the Round of 64.
