The young Italian is making waves everywhere he goes and he is very determined to establish himself as one of the best youngsters out there on the ATP Tour. Musetti was able to beat the No.1 seed in his Second Round match here, Daniel Evans, in an incredible 3-set encounter which saw it all. The match saw both players dominating once at a time in the first two sets, and then an extremely tight battle in the third set. Musetti came through 6-1/1-6/-7-6(8), saving 4 match points along the way to get the win! Musetti, if he continues to perform like this and improves, will definitely end the year with a title or two under his belt and in the Top 50 in the world. Musetti will meet an experienced opponent in Laslo Djere. How will he fare?
Laslo Djere was able to come through a hard-fought match against John Millman in the Second Round, beating the Australian in 2 sets, 6-3/6-3. Djere is a very experienced player on the ATP Tour, but he has not really been on top of his game much as of recent. Djere will be confident in his ability to win after his first two matches here in Sardegna, but he will also be wary that he needs to improve his game even more here. It will not be an easy match in this Quarter-final, especially as he meets one of the most in form youngsters of the moment in Lorenzo Musetti, but if Laslo Djere is on top of his game, I am sure he will be confident in himself to get the job done.
Lorenzo Musetti and Laslo Djere have met once before, with Laslo Djere leading the head to head 1-0. I expect this to be a very interesting match between experience and youth. Laslo Djere is the more experienced player, and he has played many matches throughout his career. However, Lorenzo Musetti seems to be one of those players who is able to break through the barriers put up in front of him and with his amazing flamboyant playing style he should be able to win here and make his way to the Semi-finals of the 2021 Sardegna Open.
