Daria Kasatkina made a good start to her Eastbourne campaign, toppling Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina 6-3, 6-1. It is a great response to last week’s surprise defeat to Avanesyan in Berlin that kinda left Dasha a little worried about Wimbledon. She’ll take on Karolina Pliskova who got the better of Elise Mertens. Pliskova led 3-0 in the final set of that match before the Belgian retired. Like Kasatkina, Pliskova was also able to get a W on the board on grass following her tough draw in Berlin where she lost to Petra Kvitova in the first round. If you take into account Kasatkina’s record against the WTA’s biggest hitters/big servers this year, she’s had the perfect game plan to curb their strengths. It is a tight line in the outright, but we fancy the Russian to take at least a set.
