It’s the first-ever meeting between Daniil Medvedev and Yannick Hanfmann. It’s tough to say how this matchup will play out, but Hanfmann will be happy they’re playing on clay out of any surface. On the other hand, Medvedev is in supreme form and will be happy to face a lower-ranked opponent.
Medvedev vs Hanfmann Prediction
Daniil Medvedev cruised through Alexander Zverev, getting the better of the German for the third time this year, this time being by far the easiest encounter. Despite a blip in the second set, he served very well throughout the match and played very consistent tennis. Both of these things will be key as he looks to take down Yannick Hanfmann, another German with a big serve. Hanfmann took down Andrey Rublev in a tight three-setter, and the key for him will be to play as aggressively as possible, however, Medvedev won’t give him an inch in terms of unforced errors, which I expect to be the main key for the Russian as he looks to advance to the final four of the 2023 Rome Masters.
