Rublev vs Bautista Agut Prediction

Andrey Rublev played one match on grass last year and that was a first-round defeat to Nikoloz Basilashvili in Halle. Rublev, however, has eradicated that record with three excellent wins this year, which includes besting in-form Tallon Griekspoor 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in Friday’s quarterfinal. Although Rublev has entered each contest as the leading favorite, he’s been required to mix it up and not be overly reliant on his power-packed forehand.

His next opponent Roberto Bautista Agut produced the shock of the tournament as he eliminated the top seed Daniil Medvedev 7-5, 7-6. The Spaniard has developed into a real kryptonite for Medvedev and now leads the head-to-head 5-2, including a 2-1 record on grass. What is even more perplexing, he’s now beaten Medvedev every season since 2020. Bautista Agut has also fared well against Medvedev’s fellow Russian Andrey Rublev. One of them will look to break a 4-all tie in the h2h, and RBA comes into this match hot on the heels of his best win this season. He won their only clash against Rublev earlier during the year in Adelaide, back when Rublev was still rusty. I expect a tight battle here and Rublev will need to ensure his serve works overtime as it has all week. But with that said, Bautista Agut has world-class in-match management and variation. Rublev could have his work cut out.
