We have an interesting second-round battle here as second seed Stefanos Tsitsipas takes on Nicolas Jarry. Both players picked up their first wins on grass, Tsitsipas knocking off Gregoire Barrere in a three-set dogfight, while Jarry took down Moutet in straight sets. It was fascinating to listen to Andy Roddick on TC, exposing Tsitsipas’ limitations on this surface, he’s clearly not mixing it up especially with his backhand chip, not using the serve and volley, adding that he is still searching for what he wants to do on grass court.

Tsitsipas doesn’t have time on his side to experiment with things. We saw that in his defeat to Gasquet in Stuttgart and he nearly succumbed to another loss against Barrere who matched his aggression and in the end, it came down to a bit of luck and extra depth. This has the makings of getting extremely tricky for Tsitsipas. But I do worry for Jarry, this will be just his second match on grass since 2019. Although he did get past Moutet 6-3, 7-5, he saved six break points. That kind of clutch tennis could elude him against a high-caliber player.
