Bautista Agut vs Nakashima Prediction
Bautista Agut is in Halle as the number eight seed and just on the periphery of a top-20 ranking. While the Spaniard is as resolute and tenacious as ever, he turned 35 in April, and he’s not getting younger. Brandon Nakashima was the ATP’s Next Gen champion at the end of last year, a triumph that was expected to catapult him as the next big thing in men’s tennis. That though hasn’t been the outcome as of the first half of 2023, with the American struggling with a knee injury. He has since recovered and he produced a gallant effort to beat Mikael Ymer in Halle in three sets.
Bautista Agut received a huge slice of good fortune, dodging his initial draw with Alexander Zverev, after a spate of withdrawals that partially affected the seeds, and ended up playing lucky loser Andrea Vavassori whom he defeated comfortably. I feel Nakashima is still a few matches away from rediscovering his proficiency. He looks a little slow and he might be overpowered by the experienced Spaniard.
