This is a really fascinating matchup, and Musetti is by far the most dangerous player Alcaraz has yet to face. Still, Alcaraz is in some form and the odds favorite to win the tournament, so he will remain the clear favorite to advance.

Carlos Alcaraz has been in flawless form, dropping only a set and absolutely dismantling Denis Shapovalov in the third round. Lorenzo Musetti has been very impressive himself, taking down an even better opponent Cameron Norrie in a dominant fashion. Musetti has won their only ever encounter, but the really slow conditions will really benefit Alcaraz, with the power he has from the back of the court, I can’t see Musetti being able to win more points from the baseline, so he’ll need to shorten the points and not allow Alcaraz to begin dominating him in the longer exchanges. On the other hand, Alcaraz may get a little frustrated if Musetti gets a lot of balls back and is able to keep the ball to his backhand and begin making unforced errors. Still, Alcaraz will likely handle the conditions better, and I expect him to be the better player on the court come Sunday, but Musetti will make it very tough for him and I think it will be a close battle as these two clash for a spot in the last eight of the 2023 French Open.
