Borna Coric just managed to sneak past Monteiro, needing two tiebreakers in the 2nd and 3rd sets to win it in three and a half hours, whereas Roberto Carbaelles Baena played for an even longer total of 3 hours and 45 minutes to overcome 20th seed Dan Evans. Coric has been spotty this year, and outside of a good run in Madrid he hasn’t been himself, or what we saw in Cincinnati through the end of last year. Coric may be fatigued from last week, and Carballes Baena will fancy his chances on the dirt as he’ll look to knock out seeds in back to back matches. It’ll be a tough one, but I think the Spaniard is the man to back to have a slight edge in this contest.
