Though Cristian Garin has been in a slump as of late and is ranked slightly below Giron, Garin had a resurgent run in Indian Wells. Garin is playing some great tennis though and has the game to succeed on this type of court, particularly in front of his home crowd here at the 2023 Miami Masters.

Cristian Garin took out Casper Ruud last week in Indian Wells, making a run to the Round of 16. It was a much-needed result for the Chilean, and though Garin at his best is certainly better than Marcos Giron, Giron is improving and Garin hasn’t shown consistent enough results. It’ll be a battle for whoever manages to come out of this one and book a spot in the Round of 64 of the 2023 Miami Masters.

Marcos Giron and Cristian Garin have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. I think it’s a good matchup for Garin, he’s a player who hits through the court very well and can punish balls that don’t have much on them. Though Garin was hitting some bombs off his forehand wing in Indian Wells, he generally likes to draw errors from his opponents which Giron won’t give him much of. But given the Chilean’s confidence is now restored, he might outrun the American to extend his good record the Sunshine Swing at the Miami Masters.
