Rafael Nadal looks to make his return to tennis for the first time since the US Open, and he’s going to have to do it the hard way as he comes up against Tommy Paul. While you never want to bet against Nadal, Paul has an excellent game to combat the iconic Spaniard, possessing a very flat and aggressive backhand which he can take crosscourt very well, and if he’s on, it might be tough for Nadal, but I still expect him to pull out all the stops as he looks to cap off an excellent season to a close here at the 2022 Paris Masters.

Tommy Paul has had a great year, picking up some big wins along the way, but it wouldn’t get much bigger than managing to take out Rafael Nadal. If he wants to win this match, he’ll have to play very aggressively, to use the conditions against Nadal. Nadal though will come prepared with what is likely an improved service game from what we saw after Wimbledon, as long as simply with the game he used to win two majors this year. Let’s see if Nadal is able to come back strong and move through to the Round of 16 at the 2022 Paris Masters.

Rafael Nadal and Tommy Paul have met once before, with Rafael Nadal leading the head to head 1-0. Their one meeting came in Acapulco early in the season, with Nadal winning 6-0 7-6 (5). Tommy Paul has improved quite a bit since then, and the conditions in that tournament were heavily favored for him, but even still, you just expect Nadal to come back firing as he has done so many times in the past. While it may be a tough one, I expect Nadal to get the win and book his place in the last 16 at the 2022 Paris Masters.
