TennisSection previews the 2022 Metz Open as Lorenzo Musetti takes on Sebastian Korda in the Round of 16 on Wednesday, September 21st, 2022.

Will Sebastian Korda get the win? Will Lorenzo Musetti pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where we have two youngsters trying to get some points under their belt. Who will triumph and move through to the quarterfinals at the 2022 Metz Open?
Lorenzo Musetti has had a pretty solid season, jumping into the top 30 on the ATP rankings. Just because of recent results though, doesn’t mean that Sebastian Korda will be any less of a problem here. I don’t love Musetti’s game for the quicker courts, mainly due to his lack of an assertive, flat forehand, and not the best serve. It’s hard to tell with these guys sometimes though, and if we know Musetti, we know he can pull off a blockbuster any given day of the week.

Sebastian Korda got a great win over Hugo Gaston, taking him out in straights to propel himself into the last 16 as he faces Lorenzo Musetti. While Korda isn’t the most consistent player, neither is his opponent. While it’ll still be difficult, Korda’s game is simply far superior on this surface, and I expect him to dictate from the baseline in this spicy encounter here at the 2022 Metz Open.
Lorenzo Musetti and Sebastian Korda have met three times before, with Lorenzo Musetti leading the head to head 2-1. Both of Musetti’s wins came on the clay, but if you can defeat someone on one surface, it’s certainly possible that it can happen on another. However, Korda looked real solid against Gaston, and I expect him to keep it up as he looks to take down Musetti for a spot in the last eight of the 2022 Metz Open.
