With a 15-10 record on hard courts this season, Maxime Cressy will fancy his chances of extending his decent record on the surface when he plays Marton Fucsovics. However, the Hungarian baseliner is a formidable challenger when he decides to turn it on. This is not as straightforward as the odds seem to suggest, so who will prevail?

Maxime Cressy rise has been nothing short but magical. Having started the year ranked 112 in the world, Cressy is seeded at this year’s US Open, which is quite an astonishing jump. But Cressyhas bigger goals than being seeded at a Grand Slam for the first time. He admits his main goal is to get into the top 10. Cressy’spersonality and game style is certainly refreshing to see, having redefined the art of the serve-and-volley tennis. The American won his first ATP title in Newport, defeating Alexander Bublikin the final, while he also finished runner-up on two occasions.

Marton Fucsovics, for his part, has been very unlucky this year. Wimbledon’s decision to strip off ranking points and ensuring players will have no chance to reclaim them this summer cost many players. One of those heavily affected by that decision was Fucsovics whose quarterfinal points from last year have seen move perilously close to exit the top 100.

Maxime Cressy leads the head-to-head over Marton Fucsovics1-0. He defeated the Hungarian in a qualifying round for the Madrid Masters during the European clay-court season earlier this season. While this match might not offer the safest pick in the Moneyline market, Cressy should still have the upper hand. He has enjoyed a much better season than his opponent and his return game has improved by leaps and bounds.
