TennisSection previews the 2022 Montreal Open as Pablo Carreno-Busta takes on Dan Evans in the semifinals on Saturday, August 13th, 2022.

Will Pablo Carreno-Busta get the win? Will Dan Evans pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where we have an unexpected semifinal but one with two very skilled players nonetheless. Who will triumph and move on to the finals at the 2022 Montreal Open?
Pablo Carreno-Busta took down Jack Draper quite easily in the 2nd set, but that 1st set was the hardest challenge of the week for him thus far. PCB will be looking to reach the final over Dan Evans, another semifinalist who we did not see coming. I really like this matchup for the Spaniard, he hits through the ball so well and serves quite well as well, a really underrated part of his game. This week especially, he’s been crushing the ball and he’s been able to take advantage of his opponents weaknesses. I only expect that to continue as he looks to advance to the final at the 2022 Montreal Open.

Dan Evans got a great win over Tommy Paul, taking him down in 3, playing some magnificent and highlight-reel tennis, especially in the latter stages of the match. While Pablo Carreno-Busta will be a very tough opponent, I expect Evans to bring the heat and confidence of being at this stage. I really don’t like his game for PCB, who is such a great defender but an even better counter puncher, it’s really going to frustrate the Brit who aims to somehow find a way here at the 2022 Montreal Open.
Pablo Carreno-Busta and Dan Evans have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Shockingly, the pair have never met before despite both having quite long careers already. It’s a horrific matchup for Evans though, playing quite short in the court and liking to draw players in, and hating longer exchanges. Carreno-Busta will draw out the exchanges, and Evans won’t be able to play aggressively as he’d like to, with the Spaniard taking him down and booking himself a place in the final at the 2022 Montreal Open.
