TennisSection previews the 2022 Montreal Masters as Pablo Carreno Busta takes on Jack Draper in the quarterfinals on Friday, August 12th, 2022.

Will Jack Draper continue his amazing run to his maiden Masters quarter-finals as he aims to cause another upset and get some serious ranking points under his belt? Will Pablo Carreno Busta continue to dominate the opposition as he has done all week? Both players have shown up this week to give it their all, but only one will make their way to the semi-finals of the 2022 Montreal Masters. Who will it be?
Jack Draper has played incredible tennis this week, showing us why he is a very exciting young talent coming out of Britain. The lefty got the biggest win of his career beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets in the second round, and in the third round he was dominating in the first set against Gael Monfils, before Monfils had to retire due to a painful injury at the start of the second. Jack will know that what he did this week is more than what anyone expected of him, but he knows he is in an optimal position to keep going and get even more points and prize money under his belt to set him up for a successful second half of the season. How will the youngster fare against a very in form and experienced opponent in Pablo Carreno Busta at the Montreal Masters?

Pablo Carreno Busta has shown everyone why he is such a tough opponent on any surface once again, dominating in the third round against Jannik Sinner, not letting the Italian get anything going during the match. Pablo is a great player who has so much experience of what type of tennis he needs to play at what time. Busta can get himself into matches by serving extremely well, rallying non-stop from the baseline, and dominating from the mid-court, without even looking tired. I am sure he knows that he has a very strong chance in his side of the draw to get some points under his belt, and he will want to show Jack Draper that experience is still key here at the Montreal Masters.
Pablo Carreno Busta and Jack Draper have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Draper has had a superb run so far, getting himself noticed and some fandom going. However, I think he has not faced incredibly tough opposition, even with Tsitsipas who had not played in a while and was incredibly error-prone in their match. Pablo on the other hand, dominated against in form opponents like Matteo Berrettini and Jannik Sinner, without even giving them a set! I see this match being another domination from the superb Spaniard, and I don’t see Draper being able to handle the consistency from the opposite side of the court at the Montreal Masters.
