TennisSection previews the 2022 Citi Open as Aslan Karatsev takes on Mikael Ymer in the Round of 32 on Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022.

Will Aslan Karatsev get the win? Will Mikael Ymer pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where we have what promises to be a tight matchup. Who will triumph and move on to the Round of 16 at the 2022 Citi Open?
Aslan Karatsev has had a rough go of things this season, really failing to find the form that took him on his memorable run in 2021. As he looks ahead to Mikael Ymer, he knows it’s not going to be easy. Although he could very well lose, I expect him to be playing much better, simply as he’s back on a hard court. He really doesn’t like the clay or the grass, and with his game in some of the best conditions he could hope for, he’ll look to get back on track at the 2022 Citi Open.

Mikael Ymer took down Andy Murray in 3 sets, an amazing win to set up a tough matchup with Aslan Karatsev. While his opponent is ranked much higher, and has much better career results, he won’t be at his best, and Ymer very well could capitalize on that. Although Karatsev will be feeling better, and I expect that to show here at the 2022 Citi Open.
Aslan Karatsev and Mikael Ymer have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. At their best, both players are amazing aggressive ball strikers, especially Karatsev. Although neither one is close to their best right now, Karatsev will be liking the conditions here and I expect him to start getting things back on track with a good win over the Swede at the 2022 Citi Open.
