Wimbledon 2022: Cameron Norrie vs. Tommy Paul Tennis Prediction and Pick

Wimbledon 2022: Cameron Norrie vs. Tommy Paul Tennis Prediction and Pick

TennisSection previews Wimbledon 2022 as Cameron Norrie takes on Tommy Paul in the fourth round on Sunday, July 3rd, 2022.

Will Tommy Paul come out here and spoil the party for the highest ranked British player at Wimbledon? Will Cameron Norrie come out and show us why he is top 10 material and a Masters 1000 champion? Both players know each other quite well and will know the significance of this match in terms of their ability to make it to a potential semi-final if either one wins. However, there can only be one winner going through to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon. Who will it be?

Tommy Paul has been in good form over the grass court season, getting some good wins under his belt in warm-up events such as Queens. Here at Wimbledon, he has not put a foot wrong and he is very deserving of having made the fourth round. Paul is a player who has improved so much over the last couple of years, really turning his career around from being a mainstay in the Challenger Tour, to a player who people do not want to play against on the ATP Tour. Paul’s game is very suited to grass as he likes to hit big and hit flat. However, this is going to be the toughest match for him so far at Wimbledon, and he will know that the crowd will be heavily for his opponent Cameron Norrie.

Cameron Norrie is the last realistic British hope in the men’s side of the draw, being the highest ranked player and most experienced left. Norrie has been in great form this week, except for one match against Jaume Munar where he was pushed to a 5th set. Norrie will know that if he is able to win this match and get himself into the quarter-finals, he definitely has a good chance to make the semi-final as he has a good draw until then, as well as the fact that the British crowd will try and give him enough energy and motivation to do so. However, at Wimbledon this isn’t always easy, especially if your next opponent is Tommy Paul.

Cameron Norrie and Tommy Paul have met 4 times before, with the head to head tied at 2-2. The last 2 encounters were both won by Cameron, who has really found his form over the last year and a half. However, you cannot underestimate Tommy Paul who is yet to lose a set this year at Wimbledon. These two players know each other’s game quite well and will come out here both knowing that they can win it. However, I think that when it comes to Wimbledon, and a British player, unless the opponent is higher ranked or in better form, it is hard to bet against the British. Norrie seems motivated, and his lefty game will give him just enough of an edge here to get him into the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.
