Will Grigor Dimitrov get the win? Will Borna Coric pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where we have one of the most entertaining players on the ATP Tour taking on a great player but one who is on an injury comeback. Who will triumph and move on to the Round of 32 at the 2022 French Open?
Grigor Dimitrov got an excellent first win, just dropping 3 games en route to the Round of 64 where he will face Borna Coric, most certainly a more difficult matchup than Giron was. Coric loves his clay a lot more than Dimitrov, but Dimitrov knows what he’s doing and has gotten a few good wins this season on the clay already, so I definitely expect him to be able to hold his own here although in a trickier match as he looks to progress at the 2022 French Open.
Borna Coric needed 4 sets to get an encouraging win and set up a meeting with a much tougher opponent in Grigor Dimitrov. Dimitrov can be rather inconsistent, and when you have a player like Coric who can keep the rallies steady and allow himself to dictate everything from the baseline, there will be trouble. But Dimitrov’s aggressive nature is on fire right now, and with the lack of matches from Coric’s side, I don’t think he can do much more than put up a small fight as he aims to somehow book a ticket to the Round of 32 at the 2022 French Open.
Grigor Dimitrov and Borna Coric have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Surprisingly, the two have never met before. As I’ve already established, it is a rather tricky matchup for Dimitrov, but considering he plays almost week in-week out as opposed to the struggling Coric, it doesn’t make much sense for any other result other than a Dimitrov win for a spot in the last 32 at the 2022 French Open.
