However, he was placing the ball so well and he was ready to play long and draining rallies which took the Dutch out of his comfort zone. Matteo Berrettini showed some improvement in his second match here at the 2022 Indian Wells, getting a straight sets win under his belt against Lloyd Harris 6-4/7-5. Matteo was 5-2 down in the second set, with Lloyd Harris having 3 break points to take the second set. However, Matteo was able to bring his best tennis when the chips were down, and he won the next 5 games in a row to seal the match. Matteo was not expected to do much coming into the tournament due to lack of recent form and personal issues which might have kept his mind elsewhere. However, he seems focused and ready to get the job done against Miomir Kecmanovic at the 2022 Indian Wells.
Matteo Berrettini and Miomir Kecmanovic have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Miomir has played well at the 2022 Indian Wells, beating some big names to get himself into the fourth round. However, he has not met incredibly in form players who have been hard to beat for he majority of the season. Matteo had a sub-par Acapulco Open, but he seems to have put that behind him, and he is ready to get things going for him again as he knows that he has a great chance to make it to the final from this bottom half of the 2022 Indian Wells draw.
