Hurkacz did not start the tournament too well, but he was able to scrape his way through and he is now finding his rhythm more and more. Hurkacz seems to have the perfect game in terms of movement and groundstrokes, however, he is also vulnerable when opponents take the ball early. Hurkacz will want his serve to be at his best as he knows that if he does not find his spots, he will find it hard against Andrey Rublev at Indian Wells.
Andrey Rublev cruised against the flamboyant and always entertaining American, Frances Tiafoe, beating him in straight sets 6-3/6-4. Andrey seems to have kept his rhythm going after winning Marseille and Dubai back to back, and he knows that in this bottom half of the Indian Wells draw, he is best placed to make it to the final. Rublev has a big serve and his groundstokes come with so much speed and power, which helps him against players who might have some issues with their speed around the court at times. This might help him as he now meets Hubert Hurkacz in Indian Wells.
Andrey Rublev and Hubert Hurkacz have met 3 times before, with Hubert Hurkacz leading the head to head 2-1. They met a couple weeks ago in Dubai where Hubert seemed to be dominant for the first set and a half, but Andrey was able to turn things around and get the victory in 3 tight sets. Rublev was not at his best during that match, very fatigued of having played basically 2 weeks straight. However, he was still able to win. Now at Indian Wells, Rublev seems fresh and energetic, and I think that in this form he will get another win against Hubert Hurkacz.
