Will Rafael Nadal get the win? Will Tommy Paul pull off the upset here at the 2022 Acapulco Open? This will be an interesting one, where we have the famous Spanish matador taking on his toughest opponent yet. Who will move on to the semifinals at the 2022 Acapulco Open?
Rafael Nadal got a nice win over Kozlov in the second round of the 2022 Acapulco Open, and he really wasn’t in top form. Kozlov did present some tricky challenges though, so despite the fact that Nadal didn’t show his best level, he needed a different approach. I think it’ll be more of the same though coming up against Tommy Paul. Nadal has been hitting very consistently and serving very well. Paul won’t have the consistent aggression to actually do any damage to the Spaniard as he seeks a place in the last four of the 2022 Acapulco Open.
Tommy Paul is looking ahead to one of the greatest tennis players of all time in Rafael Nadal, and it does not look likely that he can do much here. I do think Paul has the weapons to do potential damage, but he didn’t play all that great against Lajovic, so aside from some tighter sets than we’ve seen so far in Rafa’s matches, I’m expecting Nadal to take this one in straights, but potentially a third set if he’s a little off as Paul aims to stay in the 2022 Acapulco Open.
Rafael Nadal and Tommy Paul have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Paul isn’t a big guy, that already gives him a disadvantage against Rafa. Nadal will aim to simply get into longer rallies and put his serves and returns in the court, if that doesn’t work due to Paul’s likely aggressive gameplan working out, then Nadal will adjust either way to take this one and progress to the next round at the 2022 Acapulco Open.
