I expect him to do the same coming up against Yoshihito Nishioka, I think it’ll be quite an easy match for him. He’ll definitely be able to be quite aggressive against him as well, and the service will be too much to handle as well as the return dynamic he has with weaker servers. Let’s see if he can continue rolling through the tournament as he chases down the number one ranking here at the 2022 Acapulco Open.
Yoshihito Nishioka pulled off a great upset over Taylor Fritz, who has been a little shaky since Australia. He has an impossible challenge coming up against World No. 2 Daniil Medvedev who aims to make that 2 a 1 very soon. Nishioka really has nothing over Medvedev, normally he relies on consistency, movement, and some spin and quirky shots. Medvedev is the king of a consistency/movement combination, with so many more tricks in the book. I don’t see Medvedev giving Nishioka an inch in this match as he aims down a semifinal spot in the 2022 Acapulco Open.
Daniil Medvedev and Yoshihito Nishioka have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. It’s a pretty great matchup for Medvedev, considering Nishioka doesn’t really play with any weapons, which is what you need against him. Nishioka is a lefty, and he likes to just play a consistent game, going heavy and playing some quirky tennis, he pulled off a good upset but his run will be put to an abrupt stop by the future world no. 1 as Daniil Medvedev aims to continue to blaze through the 2022 Acapulco Open.
