Acapulco Open 2022: Cameron Norrie vs. Peter Gojowczyk Tennis Pick and Prediction

TennisSection previews the 2022 Acapulco Open as Cameron Norrie takes on Peter Gojowczyk in the quarterfinals on Thursday, February 24th, 2022.

Will Cameron Norrie get the win? Will Peter Gojowczyk pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have a very in form player taking on a surprising quarterfinalist. Who will move on to the semifinals at the 2022 Acapulco Open?

Cameron Norrie got a great win over John Isner, dropping the first set but taking great advantage of the slow courts to break him in the next two. He is coming up against Peter Gojowczyk, who he should be able to beat pretty easily. Gojowczyk won’t have a match under his belt after the Zverev fiasco, and he’s taking on a guy who is on a nice winstreak. I expect Norrie to get the win pretty easily as he aims to move through to the semifinals at the 2022 Acapulco Open.

Peter Gojowczyk got very lucky after his next opponent Alexander Zverev was defaulted from the tournament for the fiasco with the umpire. He very likely would have lost, and now he’s coming up against a challenging opponent, but not as bad as Zverev would have been for him. He will be fresh, but he won’t have nearly as much of a grasp on the court as Norrie as the top Brit and World No. 12 aims to take him down and move on to the last 4 at the 2022 Acapulco Open.

Cameron Norrie and Peter Gojowczyk have met twice before, with Cameron Norrie leading the head to head 2-0. This court is perfect for Norrie, it’s really slow, allowing him to get into the long rallies and use his spin and skiddy backhand to win every single long rally, he just can’t really miss on this court and it takes an aggressively capable player to defeat him. Gojowczyk is not that, and I expect Norrie to swat him aside as he has a semifinal spot in his sights at the 2022 Acapulco Open.
