Casper Ruud got a solid comeback win to set up this meeting with Federico Coria in the final eight. He took his opponent down in straight sets, hitting the ball extremely clean and completely dominating the court with his forehand. I expect him to put on a similar display against Coria considering Coria doesn’t really have a game that can blow someone off the court, which is definitely the kind of game you need if you want to defeat Casper since he loves playing so consistently while throwing in many elements of offense and defense into his game. Let’s see if the Norwegian can continue his campaign here at the 2022 Argentina Open.
Federico Coria got a great win as he upset Dusan Lajovic to take on the no. 1 seed in Capser Ruud. He needed 3 sets to storm back from a 1-0 deficit, but I don’t think he’ll have much success taking on Capser Ruud considering how strong he is at the moment, especially considering that they are playing on the clay where Casper Ruud is matched by very few players on the ATP Tour. Let’s see if Coria can present any sort of challenge for Ruud as he aims to take down Coria rather swiftly and enter the last four of the 2022 Argentina Open.
Casper Ruud and Federico Coria have met once before, with Casper Ruud leading the head to head 1-0. Their one meeting came last year when Ruud got his hattrick of clay court tournaments, Ruud took down Coria in the final 6-3 6-3. I expect a relatively similar result at this point, Ruud has improved his game significantly since then as has attained many more offensive elements to his arsenal which will be very useful in taking down a player like Coria, who loves to play a classic consistent style on the clay. Let’s see if he can continue to storm through the draw at the 2022 Argentina Open and make his way into the semifinals at the 2022 Argentina Open.
