Will it be the better known Corentin Moutet who aims to make 2022 his breakthrough year, or will it be the mainly Challenger Tour playing, Arthur Rinderknech to have a shocking run this week? Both players will want to give it their all, but only one will make their way to the Final of the 2022 Adelaide 2 Open. Who will it be?
Arthur Rinderknech put on a very solid performance in his toughest match this week, beating last weeks Adelaide Finalist, Karen Khachanov, in straight sets 7-6 / 7-5. Obviously Arthur put on a good performance and he should be proud of himself. However, the fact that he won that match was not solely down to him playing well, but also the fact that Khachanov had played nearly 2 full weeks of matches and he would have been somewhat tired physically. Now, Arthur meets a tough opponent in Corentin Moutet, who seems to have a lot of energy this week at the 2022 Adelaide 2 Open, and he is yet to lose a set.
Corentin Moutet has been on a roll this week, beating the likes of Struff, Fucsovics, and Monteiro all in straight sets. Corentin has been solid on his service games and this has given him the freedom to play as tough as he wants on the return game, catching his opponents off guard. Moutet is a good player who is known but also not fully known by most of the ATP Tour, so he will have an upper hand here as he can definitely rely on things in his game which others, such as Arthur Rinderknech, have not yet figured out. Will he make his maiden final at the 2022 Adelaide 2 Open?
Corentin Moutet and Arthur Rinderknech have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Although Arthur is ranked about 60 places higher than Corentin, he has not shown the same level of tennis which Corentin has shown on a more consistent basis. Corentin is more experienced in terms of matches on the ATP Tour, whilst Arthur is more of a challenger tour player. I expect a tight match just because they probably will be giving it their best and not giving up on their opportunity to make their maiden final at the 2022 Adelaide 2 Open. However, I expect Corentin to continue playing extremely well this week.
