Davis Cup Finals 2021: Novak Djokovic vs. Dennis Novak Tennis Pick and Prediction

TennisSection previews the 2021 Davis Cup Finals as Novak Djokovic takes on Dennis Novak in the round robin on Friday, November 26th, 2021.

Will Novak Djokovic get the win? Will Dennis Novak pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have two similarly named players in very different spots in the rankings coming to a clash. Who will grab the first win for their country at the 2021 Davis Cup Finals?

Novak Djokovic has been the undisputed player of the year, easily sweeping through most of his competition. He’s been playing some great stuff in the indoor hard season, winning the Paris Masters and losing a tough one in the semis of the ATP Finals to Zverev. He has a relatively straightforward match coming up against Dennis Novak. His last name is his first name, but the two are much more different than their names. Novak hasn’t been playing much tennis at the top level, and without much experience or the level, he likely won’t be able to do much for Austria in the absence of Dominic Thiem as he aims to take down Djokovic in what would be an astonishing upset at the 2021 Davis Cup Finals.

Dennis Novak has an incredibly tough battle ahead of him coming up against World No. 1 Novak Djokovic. Novak plays a steady game, but Djokovic’s expertise on indoor hard courts and in general far surpasses the level of Dennis Novak. For Novak to pull off the upset, he will have to hope for a lower level from Djokovic. It is a possibility, seeing as he has had some weird losses throughout the year. But it’s unlikely that Zverev totally disrupted his momentum with the tough loss, especially seeing as Djokovic is playing for his country and will likely regroup quickly to take down Novak and get off to a great start at the 2021 Davis Cup Finals.

Novak Djokovic and Dennis Novak have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. Novak plays a slightly similar game to Djokovic, with the steady right handed game with the two hander, it’s relatively average, focusing on making a lot of balls and being aggressive if he can. Djokovic however is so much more versatile than that, and despite a little bit of a struggle at the end of the season, he is still easily one of the best players in the world, especially on an indoor hard court. Let’s see if World No.1 Novak Djokovic can get Serbia off to a good start with a solid win over Novak at the 2021 Davis Cup Finals.
