Marin is so good in fast court conditions as he is able to hit the ball extremely flat and take time away from his opponents. Marin is able to hit through opponents and finish points off quickly with his one two shorts from the serve. However, he will know that there will be a lot riding on the line here as he meets one of the best returners and movers on the court here at the 2021 Davis Cup Finals in Alex de Minaur.
Marin Cilic and Alex de Minaur have met 2 times before, with both players having won a match against each other in the past. They last met earlier this year on the grass courts of the London Queen’s Club. Alex won that match in 3 sets and showed us some great tennis. Marin after that match went on to win in Halle the week later and he has also won an indoor hard court title this year. Alex definitely has a chance to keep things close here. However, I think that Marin will want to win this match more because I assume that Team Australia will have won their first match in this group, meaning that Marin will have to win in order to ensure Team Croatia have something to fight for in the doubles here at the 2021 Davis Cup Finals.
