TennisSection previews the 2021 Antwerp Open as Lloyd Harris (7) meets Marton Fucsovics in the Quarter-Finals on Friday October 22nd, 2021.
A hugely exciting match is expected here at the 2021 Antwerp Open as seventh seeded South African Lloyd Harris will do battle with Marton Fucsovics of Hungary with the winner advancing to the Semi-Finals. Both men consider this hard court surface to be their favourite, and their big serves and heave groundstrokes will ensure that tennis fans will be truly entertained. The pair are very close together in the rankings so I am expecting a very close match here in Antwerp. Who will win and advance to the Semis?
Lloyd Harris is the seventh seed here at the 2021 Antwerp Open and is currently ranked #32 on the ATP Tour. The big South African has really come into his own over the past few seasons, steadily improving his ranking and has now become a fixture in the top 50. He produced his best result at a Grand Slam recently at the US Open by reaching the Quarter-Finals, and will still be filled with confidence with that performance as well as his Final performance in Dubai. He has cruised through his side of the draw so far here in Antwerp by defeating both Zizou Bergs and Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets, controlling the tempo of the match with his big serve and forehand. His next opponent Marton Fucsovics is very similar to him in game style, so this match is certain to excite tennis fans with lots of power hitting and flashy stroke play.
Marton Fucsovics is ranked #39 in the world rankings and is unseeded here at the 2021 Antwerp Open. The Hungarian is known as an extremely talented player than is capable of defeating the world’s best on a good day, however he has largely struggled with consistency throughout his career. Fucsovics has every shot in the book and and there is no question that he is able to win this match, but he is one of the most unpredictable players on the ATP Tour and it is almost impossible to know what to expect from him. After defeating Denis Novak in straight sets in the Opening Round, he impressively beat the fourth seeded Roberto Bautista Agut in the Round of 16. He showed tremendous fighting spirit to come back from losing the first set to crush the Spaniard in the remaining two, winning 6-7, 6-3, 6-1. In this sort of form and if he is fully focused he can be a very dangerous opponent, and Lloyd Harris should take note and be ready for a battle.
This will be the third meeting between the two players on the ATP Tour, with the head to head series being tied 1-1. They played twice before on hard courts, each time going to three sets, so it is safe to say that this will be yet another close and entertaining match. This is quite a difficult match to predict as both men have very similar styles, are in good form and are close together in the rankings. All things considered, I am going to side with Lloyd Harris to win a very close three setter. He came into this event in much better form than Marton Fucsovics, who was on a four match losing streak before this week. It will be a battle, but the more level-headed Harris should be more calm under pressure and he should win here, advancing to the Semi-Finals of the 2021 Antwerp Open.
