Kremlin Cup 2021: Filip Krajinovic vs. Pedro Martinez Tennis Pick and Prediction

TennisSection previews the 2021 Kremlin Cup as Filip Krajinovic takes on Pedro Martinez in the Round of 16 on Thursday, October 21st, 2021.

Will Filip Krajinovic move on? Will Pedro Martinez pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have one of the top seeds looking to show off his form early on. Who will move on to the quarterfinals at the 2021 Kremlin Cup?

Filip Krajinovic has been playing pretty well lately, while he hasn’t had too consistent of results, considering all the top players he has to play on the biggest stages. For instance, in Indian Wells just last week, he was playing really incredible against Daniil Medvedev, but he still lost in straight sets. He has a really versatile game, having a solid serve and return, with excellent groundstrokes and really underrated netplay to add on to it. He should get through this first match against Pedro Martinez pretty easily, as Martinez is relatively one-dimensional, and Krajinovic is simply in better form to take this one and move on to the quarterfinals at the 2021 Kremlin Cup.

Pedro Martinez got an easy win to set up this meeting with Filip Krajinovic, a much tougher task. His chances of winning are not impossible, but still really slim. Krajinovic is known to show inconsistencies, and despite his age, you can still see that he’s really improving, and he will likely only get more consistent from here on out. Krajinovic has a lot more experience on quick courts to add on to the fact that he simply has a higher ranking for a reason, and it’s that he’s simply a better player. It’s hard to go against Krajinovic here as he attempts to get a swift win and move on to the next round at the 2021 Kremlin Cup.

Filip Krajinovic and Pedro Martinez have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. It’s not too diverse of a matchup, with Martinez primarily being a clay courter, and mostly focusing on not missing. Martinez actually does have relatively versatile shots, being able to accelerate pretty quickly especially on the forehand, and the fact that he doesn’t miss often. However, this is an indoor hard court, and since it’s so quick, Krajinovic will likely be able to just bully him with the type of game that he has to book himself a place in last 8 at the 2021 Kremlin Cup.
