TennisSection previews the 2021 Austria Open as Filip Krajinovic (3) meets Arthur Rinderknech in the Quarter-Finals on Thursday July 29th, 2021.
Third seeded Serbian Filip Krajinovic will face the unseeded Arthur Rinderknech of France for a spot in the Semi-Finals here at the 2021 Austria Open in Kitzbuhel. Krajinovic has been in good form since the end of the grass court season, reaching the Final at the German Open and the Quarter-Finals in Umag. A very talented player, he has always struggled with getting consistent results and will be hoping for yet another strong week here. His opponent here is very inexperienced making the Serbian the big favorite on paper. Can he reach an ATP Tour Semi-Final for the second time in three weeks?
Filip Krajinovic is the third seed here at the 2021 Austria Open and is currently ranked #33 on the ATP Tour. As mentioned above, he has been in fantastic form lately, after a poor grass court season. He was particularly outstanding in his run to the Final at the German Open where he had a big win over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Quarter-Finals. He has always been known as a very talented player, and once he is confident he is capable of some big things. The draw is set up nicely for him to make a deep run here in Kitzbuhel, and he enters this match against Arthur Rinderknech as the overwhelming favorite.
Arthur Rinderknech is unseeded here at the 2021 Austria Open and is ranked a career-high #91 on the ATP Tour. The Frenchman had shown flashes of brilliance earlier this year but is now putting it together and getting some consistent results. He reached back to back Quarter-Finals in Gstaad and Bastad and has carried that momentum here to Kitzbuhel. After defeating the fifth seed Federico Delbonis in the First Round, he was pushed to the limit by the young Dane Holger rune before winning in three sets. He is the underdog here, but will be confident after his strong recent results and knowing that his opponent Filip Krajinovic is sometimes prone to losing matches that he shouldn’t.
This will be the first meeting between the two players on the ATP Tour and it is expected to be a battle, with both players in solid form. However, in matches like this I always go with the more experienced player, and the one that is used to being at this deep stage of tournaments. That player here is Filip Krajinovic who has years of experience at the very top events, and his opponent Arthur Rinderknech is now finding his way on the ATP Tour after spending most of his career playing Challengers. Rinderknech has been outstanding lately, including a big win over Roberto Bautista Agut at the Swiss Open, but it is likely that he will struggle with the firepower and versatility of his opponent, and I expect him to go down here in two straight sets. Filip Krajinovic will win and advance to the Semis here at the 2021 Austria Open in Kitzbuhel.
