Will Ashleigh Barty continue to dominate as she seems to have found her best game? Both of these Grand Slam Champions will come out here and give it their all, but only one will book their spot in the Final of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. Who will it be?
Angelique Kerber cruised through her Quarter-Final match against Karolina Muchova, beating the No.19 seed in straight sets 6-2/6-3. Angelique is so experienced in this arena and she will be very confident in her game. Angelique, when on top of her game, is one of the best players out there, especially on grass as she is able to hit through her opponents. Angelique Kerber will know that she is the only former Wimbledon winner let in the draw, but she will also know it is going to be a hard road as she now meets Ashleigh Barty who has been the most in form player here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
Ashleigh Barty dominated her Quarter-Final match against Alja Tomljanovic, beating her fellow Australian in straight sets 6-1/6-3. Ashleigh has just gotten better and better throughout the entire tournament and she will know that there is a lot of expectations on her shoulder. Ashleigh’s game suits grass very well as she is very good on her backhand slice and she is able to get herself into rallies which a player with a normal backhand would not have. Ashleigh faces a tough challenge in Ashleigh Barty and she will know she has to be at her best if she is to win.
Ashleigh Barty and Angelique Kerber have met 4 times before, with the head to head tied at 2-2. They have not played for over 3 years since and they have only ever played one 3 set match. Since 2018, Ashleigh Barty has improved drastically whilst Kerber has not. However, throughout the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, both of them have found their best level. I expect for this to be such a tight encounter with a hopeful Wimbledon winner and an actual Wimbledon winner. If this was 3 years ago I would have picked Kerber to dominate this match on grass, but Ashleigh has just been superb all tournament and it is her time to shine here. Ashleigh will win and make her way to the Final of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
