TennisSection previews the 2021 Wimbledon Championships as Roger Federer (6) meets Cameron Norrie (29) in the Round of 32 on Saturday, July 3rd 2021.
Will the Brit cause the big upset and get a mixed reaction from the British crowd against Roger Federer? Will Roger Federer continue to improve his level as he goes on here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships as he aims to get himself back to his best on grass? This will be an interesting battle, with some great crowd reactions for sure, but only one will make their way to the Round of 16. Who will it be?
Cameron Norrie beat Alexander Bolt easily in the Round of 64, beating the Australian in straight sets 6-3/6-1/6-2. Cameron Norrie has been performing very well on grass recently, beating the likes of Denis Shapovalov, making his way to the Queen’s Open Final and now making his way to the Round of 32 at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The Brit will not want to let this amazing form go as it will help him for future tournaments in the year and to rise up the rankings. However, he is now going to have to raise his level even more as he meets the 8 time Wimbledon Champion, Roger Federer.
Roger Federer put on a superb performance in the Round of 64, beating Richard Gasquet in straight sets 7-6/6-1/6-4. This match was something that both Federer and the fans needed to see as it showed us that he can still dominate matches and get them under his belt quickly. Roger has made improvements on his opening match here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships and he will definitely aim to be even better in his next match against Cameron Norrie. Roger knows it won’t be easy, but he will work hard to ensure he makes it through to the Round of 16.
Roger Federer and Cameron Norrie have never met before, with this being their first meeting. Although Cameron Norrie has had a superb year, winning close to 30 matches and losing only 13, whilst Federer has a handful of wins this year, when it comes to the grass courts of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, he stands no chance in my opinion. Roger showed us some amazing fast-paced tennis in the Round of 64 and he will improve on that coming into this match. This gives me a lot of confidence that if he can beat Gasquet so easily, he can do the same against Cameron Norrie to make his way to the Round of 16 of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
