Now that he is here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, he will have to raise his level much more than he usually plays at as he meets the in form Felix Auger-Aliassime right from the start as he is currently expected to make a Round of 128 exit. Will the Brazilian cause the shocking upset?
Felix Auger-Aliassime has been in strong form this year on grass, going 6-2 in his matches by reaching the Final of the Stuttgart Open and the Semi-finals of the Halle Open. Felix Auger-Aliassime is very good on these faster surfaces as his serve and strong forehand fly through the court and make his opponents move around a lot. Felix is always good in early rounds, but what he needs to chance to get himself to the next level, is find the mental strength in tight and business end matches as he is yet to win a title in his career. Felix will need to be ready from the get to here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships as he meets Thiago Monteiro, a tough and powerful opponent.
Felix Auger-Aliassime and Thiago Monteiro have met 1 time before, with Felix Auger-Aliassime leading the head to head 1-0. They met last year at the US Open where FAA won 6-3/6-7/7-6/7-6. This was a very tight match, and I expect for it to be the same here at Wimbledon. Thiago can definitely compete here, but I don’t see him getting the upset. Felix has been superb all grass court season, and I expect him to get the win under his belt to make his way to the Round of 64 of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.
