Grigor Dimitrov leads Daniel Altmaier 1-0 in their head-to-head on the ATP Tour. Dimitrov took out the German at the 2021 Indian Wells Masters. It was a straightforward result, but Altmaier has improved significantly and will be coming into this match with lots of confidence.

Grigor Dimitrov took down Emil Ruusuvuori in straight sets, securing a big win and proving himself as a dangerous player in these slow conditions. Altmaier on the other hand, secured a massive win in taking out 8th seed Jannik Sinner in the 5th longest match in tournament history. Altmaier saved two match points in the fourth set, and despite a couple of poor decisions from Sinner, Altmaier fully earned his victory and played the best match of his career to advance. To take on another big name in the next round won’t be easy, but with the momentum he’ll be riding, I expect Altmaier to play with the conditions and really find his rhythm. Dimitrov will very much be present in the match though, and I suspect Altmaier will have to come through a close battle to move through to the fourth round of the 2023 French Open. Another classic could be on the cards here.
