Paula Badosa reached her second quarterfinal of the season at the Charleston Open and lost to Jessica Pegula. Apparently, her other quarterfinal appearance came in Adelaide 2 in the second week of the season but pulled out from her scheduled semifinal against Daria Kasatkina. Well, these two will get to do battle at the Stuttgart Open in what promises to be a thriller.
Daria Kasatkina, meanwhile, found her A-game in Charleston, reaching the semifinal of the tournament and losing to eventual champion Ons Jabeur. The start of the clay-court swing is what Kasatkina would have asked after a poor set of results on hard courts. Let’s see if she can maintain her winning record over Paula Badosa at the Stuttgart Open.

Daria Kasatkina leads Paula Badosa 2-1 in their head-to-head. Badosa missed out on the chance to even the head-to-head, after withdrawing from their semifinal clash in Adelaide earlier this season due to injury. This should be a thrilling battle and I expect it to go the full distance. Kasatkina took their only previous meeting on clay in Rome last season. But the Stuttgart Open is a quicker clay court and should help Badosa to reach her ceiling this week.
