Will Holger Rune get the win? Will Botic van de Zandschulp pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have a repeat of last year’s final in what should be a ball-crushing matchup. Who will triumph and claim the trophy at the 2023 Munich Open?

Holger Rune took down O’Connell quite easily to reach back-to-back finals in Munich, where amazingly, he will take on the same opponent in Botic van de Zandschulp, just as he did last year. Rune has been in amazing form, and he certainly comes into this match the heavy favorite, improving quite a bit since last year while his opponent is more or less the same. Let’s see if the Dane is able to defend his first-ever title here at the 2023 Munich Open.

Botic van de Zandschulp pulled off the upset on Taylor Fritz, proving his ability on clay courts and showing he’s still a very tough competitor for almost anybody. As he takes on Holger Rune, he certainly isn’t the favorite, but if he serves big and is able to keep the rallies short, I suspect he’ll have a great shot to make this final competitive as these two clash for the title at the 2023 Munich Open.

Holger Rune and Botic van de Zandschulp have met once before, with Holger Rune leading the head to head 1-0. Their only match prior came in this very tournament in the finals last year. Tragically so, van de Zandschulp retired up 4-3 in the first set to give Rune his first-ever title. Although we can assume this won’t happen again, I expect the result to be the same as Rune looks to assert himself as one of the players to beat this clay season with a trophy win here at the 2023 Munich Open.
