Since winning Acapulco, it looks like the title hangover bug caught Alex De Minaur. The Australian had a poor showing in the North American Sunshine Swing. He lost at the first hurdle in both Indian Wells and Miami, and enters this year’s clay swing without any real momentum. That could certainly give hope to Andy Murray who is making a rare appearance at the Monte-Carlo Masters.

Andy Murray, for his part, completed his training preparations in Spain and flew to Monaco where he will play at the Monte-Carlo Masters for the first time since 2017. He’s played a combined total of three matches on clay in six years and it will be interesting to see how his body will hold up to the grueling demands of the surface when he plays Alex De Minaur

Alex De Minaur leads Andy Murray 2-0 in their head-to-head, with both matches contested on hard courts. I don’t think we should expect a lot from Murray this clay swing. He has defied science at times and his endurance has been superb in the early part of 2023. The Aussie doesn’t have any momentum coming to the 2023 Monte-Carlo Masters, but this will likely turn this match into a battle of endurance and the De Minaur is one of the fittest and quickest players on tour.
