Will Daniil Medvedev get the win? Will Grigor Dimitrov pull off the upset? This will be an interesting one, where we have an exciting and unique matchup. Who will triumph and move through to the finals at the 2023 Rotterdam Open?

Daniil Medvedev got an excellent win over defending champion Felix Auger-Aliassime, taking him out 6-2 6-4 in a dominant display, returning extremely well, and overall playing far too consistently for the Canadian. As he comes up against Grigor Dimitrov, he’ll be ready for a tough battle, but he is the clear favorite to advance in any case as he looks ahead to the final of the 2023 Rotterdam Open.

Grigor Dimitrov took out Alex de Minaur in an epic, 8-6 in the 3rd set tiebreaker winning an incredible match point. There are few opponents tougher for Dimitrov to face though than who will await him in Daniil Medvedev, a player who when in form is a contender to be the best player in the world on hard courts behind Novak Djokovic. If Dimitrov wants to win, he’ll need to keep his first serve percentage extremely high and keep the points very short, or else I don’t see much of a chance for him to hold off the 6th seed here at the 2023 Rotterdam Open.

Daniil Medvedev and Grigor Dimitrov have met 6 times before, with Daniil Medvedev leading the head to head 4-2. Despite a strange loss in Indian Wells in 2021 from 6-4 4-1 up, Medvedev has played Dimitrov very well for the most part, including their last meeting indoors in Vienna. Dimitrov will be happy that this court is playing slower than a typical indoor court, but I do not think the conditions will suit him anyway against Medvedev. Let’s see if the former World No. 1 can re-enter the top 10 with this win and book himself a place in the finals at the 2023 Rotterdam Open.
