Paris Masters 2022: Hubert Hurkacz vs. Holger Rune Tennis Pick and Prediction

Will Hubert Hurkacz get the win? Will Holger Rune pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where the 10th seed and potential Turin qualifier faces a tough obstacle. Who will triumph and move through to the Round of 16 at the 2022 Paris Masters?

Hubert Hurkacz got a good first win over local Adrian Mannarino, taking him down 7-6 6-4. Hurkacz knows that in order to qualify for Turin now, he has to make a run to the title. As he comes up against Holger Rune, he’ll know that his draw isn’t easy in the slightest, but Rune didn’t look to be at his best after playing a lot of tennis lately, so while it may get a little tough, I expect Hurkacz to use his incredible serving to do this one out and move through to the Round of 16 at the 2022 Paris Masters.

Holger Rune took down Stan Wawrinka 4-6 7-5 7-6 in a very tight and feisty match. Despite not playing his best tennis, he held firm and got the win in the end. In order to take down Hubert Hurkacz, he’s going to have to play incredibly aggressively, hoping that Hurkacz will give him a couple of opportunities on his serve. While those opportunities inevitably will come, they’ll be very far and few between and I doubt the young Dane has the current level and fitness to overcome the Pole who looks to continue his campaign into the last 16 here at the 2022 Paris Masters.

Hubert Hurkacz and Holger Rune have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. I think it’s a tough matchup for Hurkacz, Rune hits through the ball well and he moves very well, two things that can be problematic for Hurkacz. However, based on the current conditions and the unreal level of Hurkacz’s serving, I expect him to be able to tough it out and move on at the 2022 Paris Masters.
