TennisSection previews the 2021 Stuttgart Open as Felix Auger-Aliassime (3) meets Sam Querrey in the Semi-finals on Saturday, June 12th 2021.
Will Sam Querrey use all of his experience and the fight he showed in his Quarter-final match here to give himself a chance to make the Final of the 2021 Stuttgart Open. Will Felix Auger-Aliassime be able to continue dominating in his matches, especially on serve as he aims to make his 8th career Final in the hopes of his first title? Both players can win this match if they are playing their best, but only one will make their way to the Final. Who will it be?
Sam Querrey had to fight back from a set down in the Quarter-finals of the 2021 Stuttgart Open, beating the wildcard Dominic Stricker in 3 sets 6-7/7-6/6-3. This was a tough match in those first two sets for Sam, finally facing a tough opponent here in Stuttgart and having to use all of his experience to make the comeback. Sam is not very consistent nowadays, but it is good to see him playing in some strong form before Wimbledon. However, Sam will now meet a much tougher opponent in Felix Auger-Aliassime who has been in great form this week and continuously dominating.
Felix Auger-Aliassime came through 2 tight sets against his fellow youngster, Ugo Humbert, beating the Frenchman 7-6/7-6. The match was tight from start to finish, and Felix Auger-Aliassime was able to show greater composure throughout the match to get the win. This will give him a lot of confidence as he got revenge against Humbert who had beaten him in straight sets at Wimbledon in 2019, showing that his grass game has improved. Felix will know he now has a very strong chance at the title here at the 2021 Stuttgart Open, but he needs to beat the experienced Sam Querrey.
Felix Auger-Aliassime and Sam Querrey have never met before, with this being their first meeting on the ATP Tour. Although Sam Querrey has won 10 titles throughout his career and he has 11 years more in experience, he is still not at the level required to keep up with Felix. Querrey struggled against a wildcard here, and Felix beat a tough opponent in straight sets. The momentum and form lies with Felix, and I see him making his 8th career final in search for his first title on the ATP Tour.
