As he takes on Borna Coric, he’ll know that he has a very difficult task ahead of him, never truly beating Coric before outside of an early retirement, however, this time it may be a little different. Tsitsipas has been consistent so far in the indoor hard swing, and Coric struggled against an opponent he should’ve more easily defeated. Borna Coric got through to the 2nd round with a tough match, but won nonetheless. While Coric may be happy to see Stefanos Tsitsipas’s name in his draw as opposed to a different seed, it’ll still be a real tough match. If Coric serves well, I think he’ll have a good time here, and either way I see this match going to a 3rd set. Let’s see if the Croat can beat the Greek star once again to book himself a quarterfinals spot at the 2022 Vienna Open.

Stefanos Tsitsipas and Borna Coric have met three times before, with Borna Coric leading the head to head 2-1. The one time Tsitsipas won was in Rome 4.5 years ago, with Coric retiring going down 1-4 in the 1st set. Coric took him down this year in the Cincinnati final, and a big question will loom over the both of them in whether or not that match will affect their play here. I think that the experience may just push Coric to the upset here as he looks to move through to the final eight of the 2022 Vienna Open.
