TennisSection previews the 2022 Laver Cup as Novak Djokovic takes on Felix Auger-Aliassime in the group stages on Sunday, September 25th, 2022.

Will Novak Djokovic get the win? Will Felix Auger-Aliassime pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where the best player in the world takes on one of the most aggressive and hard hitting players on tour. Who will triumph and get the win here at the 2022 Laver Cup?
Novak Djokovic played at an unbelievable level today, absolutely dismantling Frances Tiafoe, serving exceptionally well and playing some of the most steady tennis you will ever see. As he faces Felix Auger-Aliassime, he’ll know the pressure is on him to clinch the Laver Cup as the matches to come are difficult to call, but I think he’ll be very much ready and up for the challenge as the Serbian legend is ready to take down the Canadian here at the 2022 Laver Cup.

Felix Auger-Aliassime played a tough match today against Matteo Berrettini, in an almost mirror match from their previous encounter at the Laver Cup in 2021, but losing in the end in a very tight match. While his level has been very high all year, he now has the penultimate task coming up against Novak Djokovic, and while the matchup may not be awful in this case, the matchup issue lies in simply how well Djokovic is playing at the moment, if Felix wants to win, he’ll have to be flawless on serve and play +1 tennis throughout the match, otherwise it’s almost inevitable for Djokovic to take down FAA and triumph at the 2022 Laver Cup.
Novak Djokovic and Felix Auger-Aliassime have met once before, with Novak Djokovic leading the head to head 1-0. Their one meeting came in the quarterfinals of the Rome Masters this season, with Djokovic winning a thrilling straight set encounter 7-5 7-6. While it may get tough here if Felix is on the very top of his game, the court is playing unbelievably slow, so no matter the level of the Canadian, I expect Novak Djokovic to really bring his all in taking down Auger-Aliassime at the 2022 Laver Cup.
