US Open 2022: Nick Kyrgios vs. Karen Khachanov Tennis Pick and Prediction

Nick Kyrgios took down Daniil Medvedev in 4 sets, putting on a masterclass to take him out, setting up a meeting with Karen Khachanov. Despite how good Khachanov is, Kyrgios is playing very well, and I can’t see Khachanov getting him out of this tournament. If Khachanov serves well, I actually do really like how stable he is from the line, but his movement isn’t all that and with how much variety Kyrgios will throw in, Khachanov won’t be able to do much as the Australian looks to book yet another semifinal here at the 2022 US Open.

Karen Khachanov took down Pablo Carreno Busta in 5 sets, it was a hard fought match, but some very tactical play from the Russian. As he clashes with Nick Kyrgios, he’ll know his only real hope is to serve at his very best, if he’s able to do that, I think he can absolutely be competitive in this one. If not, I expect Kyrgios to roll through this one. Let’s see if the 27th seed has what it takes to make this competitive and fight for a spot in the last four at the 2022 US Open.

Nick Kyrgios and Karen Khachanov have met twice before, with the head to head being tied at 1-1. Khachanov may just have a shot here, and as I mentioned I do like the matchup for him, and it’s proven by the win he got over Kyrgios in Cincinnati, but how close and epic their 5 set battle was in Australia back in 2020, with Kyrigos winning 10-8 in the 5th set tiebreak after playing 4 tiebreakers in that match. In the end though, Kyrgios is the clear favorite not just in this match but in his half to advance to the semifinals here at the 2022 US Open.
