TennisSection previews the Houston Open 2022 as Nick Kyrgios takes on Michael Mmoh in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 8th, 2022.
Will Nick Kyrgios get the win? Will Michael Mmoh pull off the upset? This will be a fascinating one, where we have one the infamous Aussie taking on a home favorite. Who will triumph and move on to the semifinals at the Houston Open 2022?
Nick Kyrgios got an excellent win over Tommy Paul, taking him out 4 and 2. He put on a clay court exhibition, and is one of the favorites to win the tournament without doubt. He served great, rallied great, did everything perfectly. With the forehand that he possesses, he can dictate from the back of the court very easily, especially on a slower surface like clay. I expect him to cruise past Michael Mmoh and into the semifinals at the Houston Open 2022.
Michael Mmoh got a solid win, but it will likely end as he comes up against Nick Kyrgios. Mmoh can hit some big balls, but he just doesn’t have the game for the clay or the versatility to be able to outplay someone like Kyrgios. He’ll be outplayed from all areas of the court, and he simply doesn’t have the weapons to make anything happen. He’ll have to serve to perfection if he even wants a chance at the Houston Open 2022.
Nick Kyrgios and Michael Mmoh have never met before, with this being their first career meeting. It’s not a good matchup for Mmoh, especially on the clay. While it may not be Kyrgios’ favorite surface, he knows how to manage it very well, while Mmoh, who is very inexperienced and pales in comparison to Kyrgios in terms of their tennis, also doesn’t know what to really do on the clay. I expect Kyrgios to cruise through to the final four at the Houston Open 2022.
